For Families

Why Pediatric Foot Care Matters

Children's feet are constantly growing and changing. Pain, limping, frequent tripping, flat feet, heel pain, sports injuries, skin and nail problems, or unusual walking patterns should not be ignored. Little Wigley Feet helps families understand what is normal, what may need treatment, and when a child should be evaluated.

Growing Feet Need Specialized Care

Children are not small adults. Their bones, growth plates, tendons, ligaments, and walking patterns change as they grow.

Early Evaluation Can Help

Early evaluation may help identify issues that affect comfort, sports participation, shoe fit, gait, or long-term foot function.

Family-Friendly Treatment

We focus on practical treatment plans that families can understand and children can follow.

Connected Care Under One Roof

We connect pediatric podiatry, imaging, bracing, orthotics, skin and nail care, sports injury care, and follow-up in one location.

Conditions

Pediatric Foot & Ankle Conditions We Treat

Little Wigley Feet evaluates and treats a wide range of pediatric foot, ankle, skin, nail, gait, and sports-related conditions. Each child is evaluated individually based on age, symptoms, growth, activity level, exam findings, and family concerns.

Concerns with walking, running, balance, arch development, or shoe wear may be signs that a child needs a pediatric foot and ankle evaluation.

Treatment

How Little Wigley Feet Can Help

Pediatric Foot & Ankle Evaluation

A careful exam helps identify the source of pain, gait changes, shoe problems, sports injuries, skin concerns, or nail issues.

X-Rays & Imaging When Needed

Imaging may be recommended when injury, growth plate pain, bone alignment, deformity, or structural problems are suspected.

Custom Orthotics & Arch Support

Orthotics or supportive inserts may help children with flat feet, heel pain, foot fatigue, overuse pain, or gait concerns when appropriate.

Bracing & Splinting

Ankle braces, night splints, walking boots, or other supports may be recommended for select injuries, instability, tendon pain, or growth-related conditions.

Ingrown Toenail Care

Options may include conservative nail care, temporary nail procedures, or permanent nail procedures for recurrent cases when appropriate.

Wart & Skin Treatment

Plantar warts, calluses, blisters, fungal skin concerns, and painful lesions can be evaluated and treated based on the child's age and comfort.

Sports Injury Treatment

Treatment may include rest, bracing, immobilization, stretching, orthotics, therapy coordination, activity modification, or return-to-play planning.

Pediatric Surgical Consultation

Most pediatric conditions are treated conservatively first. If surgery is ever considered, recommendations are individualized and based on exam, imaging, age, growth, severity, and physician judgment.

For Parents

When Should a Parent Schedule an Appointment?

Consider scheduling a pediatric foot and ankle evaluation if a child has pain, limping, frequent tripping, swelling, toe deformity, difficulty with shoes, recurring ingrown toenails, sports injuries, heel pain, wounds, skin changes, or walking concerns.

For severe injury, open wounds, spreading infection, fever, severe swelling, blue or black discoloration, inability to bear weight, or emergency symptoms, seek urgent medical care or call 911.

Flat Feet in Children

Many children have flexible flat feet, and not all require treatment. Children with pain, fatigue, tripping, difficulty with shoes, ankle or knee pain, or activity limitation may benefit from evaluation — we'll determine whether observation, supportive shoes, stretching, orthotics, bracing, or further workup is appropriate.
